Dental Treatments Available at Smile For Life Dental Clinics
Sedation For Nervous Patients
If you need dental treatment but feel a bit nervous at the dentist, or just want a little bit of help to relax, we’re able to help put your mind at ease with our sedation facilities.
At Smile For Life Dental Clinics, we are able to carry out dental treatments using both intravenous (IV) and nitrous, commonly called laughing gas, sedation.
Whether you choose intravenous sedation or nitrous sedation, you can be sure to be relaxed and pain-free during your dental treatments.
Our dental clinics across Essex and East Sussex all offer a calming, relaxing environment and our highly experienced teams of dental surgeons and nurses work with you to make sure you experience as little anxiety as possible.
If you would like to find out more about our sedation facilities, all you have to do is get in touch by phone, by email, or use the contact form at the bottom of the page.
Dental Hygienist Treatments
While it’s important to brush your teeth regularly, nothing beats the fresh feeling of a dental hygienist’s professional cleaning session.
At Smile For Life Dental Clinics, we can tackle those layers of plaque and tartar that brushing alone can’t remove, leaving you with sparkling clean teeth that will help to stop gum disease caused by plaque bacteria.
We offer two professional cleaning options to make your teeth look and feel brand new; scale and polish and airflow polishing.
A scale and polish treatment is done in three stages; First, the teeth are scraped using an ultrasonic scraper which removes the majority of the plaque and tartar deposits on the teeth. Second, using specialist handheld dental instruments, the remaining deposits are removed. Third, the teeth are polished to give them a smooth outer layer.
The polishing is not only done for cosmetic reasons but also to remove any rough patches on your teeth, protecting you from further plaque build-up.
Airflow polishing uses a combination of high pressured air and water, along with sodium bicarbonate to remove tooth stains caused by tea, coffee, smoking, wine, and anything else that causes staining.
If you have any questions or would like to book an appointment with our dental hygienist, you can get in touch by phone, by email, or by using the contact form at the bottom of the page.
Natural Looking Veneers
Whether you need a single tooth or a full set, we can help you regain confidence in your smile with natural-looking veneers.
Veneers are used to address a range of cosmetic concerns including missing teeth, smaller teeth, chipped teeth, broken teeth, and discoloured teeth.
When trying to achieve a symmetrical smile, most people replace either 6 or 8 on an arch, however, we can replace as many or as few teeth as you want.
If you have a decent set of teeth already, we would always try and steer you in the direction of a less invasive treatment such as Invisalign, but we’re happy to do whatever makes you happy.
If you’re not sure whether veneers or another treatment is best for you, feel free to get in contact and arrange a consultation.
You can call us, email us, or use the contact form at the bottom of the page to arrange your consultation today.
Secure Bridges and Crowns
If you have broken or missing teeth, we can help to restore your smile with crowns or bridges.
A crown is an artificial restoration used to repair individual broken teeth.
They are cemented over a prepared natural tooth or a dental implant and are coloured to match your other teeth for a natural look.
A bridge is used when you need to replace two or more teeth in a row. Just like crowns, they are cemented over prepared natural teeth or dental implants and are coloured to match your teeth for a natural look.
At Smile For Life Dental Clinics, we generally carry out this treatment in two visits.
During your first visit, we prepare your teeth for the crown or bridge by filing down your natural tooth (or teeth) by the same thickness as the replacements and taking dental impressions. Don’t worry, we’ll provide you with a temporary crown or bridge while we prepare your permanent replacements.
Once your crown or bridge has been created, we’ll invite you back for fitting.
If you’re considering a crown or bridge, you can phone us, email us, or use the online contact form to arrange your consultation today.
Orthodontic Treatments
If you have crowded or crooked teeth, we can help to straighten your teeth and restore your confidence in your smile.
There are many benefits of having straight teeth aside from an improved appearance.
For one, you’ll improve your bite, ensuring the biting pressure is spread evenly across all your teeth. This is will help to maintain the long-term health of your teeth, gums, and jaw.
Another benefit is that your teeth will be easier to clean all around, leading to better oral health.
Ideally, orthodontic treatments would be carried out while the patient is a child, however, it’s never too late and we often carry out treatment on adults who want to improve their smile.
The treatment begins with a full dental x-ray to determine the root causes of your problems.
From there, we will assess what needs to be done in order to straighten your teeth.
We have a range of options when it comes to treatment, including fixed braces, removable braces, and clear plastic aligners such as Invisalign.
If you’re considering orthodontic treatments, get in touch by phone, email, or our online contact forms to arrange your consultation today.
Same Day Teeth Whitening and Home Kits
Make your smile sparkle with our same-day and home teeth whitening kits.
Tea, coffee, wine, smoking, and our general eating habits all contribute to dulling and staining our teeth.
If you want to bring the brightness back to your teeth, we can help you with our same-day and home teeth whitening kits.
At Smile For Life Dental Clinics, you can walk out with a brighter smile within one hour thanks to our Phillips Zoom teeth whitening procedure that will make your teeth 3 shades whiter with just one treatment.
If you’d rather have a gradual change that you can do from the comfort of your own home, we also offer bespoke teeth whitening kits that use custom gumshields and hydrogen peroxide to gently lighten your teeth.
We always recommend you book an appointment with our dental hygienist before any whitening treatments to get the best results.
If you’re not sure which whitening solution is best for you, you can contact us by phone, email, or use the online contact form below to book a consultation.
Composite Bonding
If you have chipped, fractured, gappy or discoloured teeth, you may want to consider our composite bonding treatment.
Composite bonding (also referred to as dental bonding or tooth bonding) is a non-invasive procedure that uses composite resin to restore your teeth to their natural shape.
It is a cheaper and less invasive alternative to crowns or veneers and with regular brushing can last for years.
The treatment is a quick and effective way to fix minor cosmetic issues and can usually be carried out in just one visit.
The resin used will be coloured to match your teeth so if you are also planning to have teeth whitening treatments, we advise you to have that done first.
Once the composite resin has been applied, UV light is used to harden it and you’ll be able to bite down by the time you leave us.
If you’re not sure whether composite bonding, crowns, or veneers are the best option for you, call us, email us or use the contact form below to book a consultation with one of our dentists.
Professional Dental Implants
At Smile For Life Dental Clinics, we are able to fit professional and secure dental implants.
Dental implants are replacement tooth roots that are used in conjunction with bridges, crowns, veneers, and permanent dentures.
Implants are made from titanium and are the strongest way to secure replacement teeth. They are fused to the jawbone and with proper care can last a lifetime.
Fitting dental implants is an involved process that will require multiple visits.
The first step is to create a personalised plan designed around your specific needs, whether that’s replacing a single tooth, a bridge, or a full arch of teeth.
Treatment begins when we place the tooth root implant into the bone socket of a missing tooth. As the jawbone heals it will grow around the implant providing a secure fixing point.
Healing can take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks and once fully healed, we can move on to the next stage of treatment, fixing a small connector post. called an abutment.
Once the abutments are in place, we will take a dental impression to design your replacement teeth around.
If you’re considering dental implants, our team of experienced dentists are here to make the process as simple and pain-free as possible. All you have to do is get in touch to arrange a consultation.
Natural Looking Fillings
If you have a cavity you’ll need to get it filled before the problem gets any worse.
Cavities are holes in your teeth that can be caused by tooth decay or injury and, if left untreated, can lead to decay spreading and extreme pain if the tooth root is exposed.
Tooth decay can also lead to bad breath, headaches, infection, and tooth loss. That’s why it’s important to have your cavities filled at the earliest opportunity.
Fillings can also be used to repair chipped or broken teeth caused by injury.
In years past, fillings were unsightly and obvious, but now using composite fillings, we can colour your fillings to your natural tooth shade so you won’t even know they’re there.
Composite fillings are a private dental treatment, but you can also get traditional amalgam fillings on the NHS.
If you have a cavity or broken tooth and would like to get it filled, book a consultation today by phone, email, or using the online contact form below.
Simple and Complex Tooth Extraction
If you need a tooth removed, we can help to extract it as quickly and painlessly as possible.
At Smile For Life Dental Clinics, we can perform both simple and complex tooth extraction.
Simple extractions are when we remove visible teeth. This is usually done because the broken or decayed tooth is too far gone for repair.
We will usually carry out simple extractions using an injected local anesthetic, although if you are a nervous patient, you may wish to take advantage of our sedation facilities.
Complex extractions (also called surgical extractions) are performed when the affected tooth is hidden below the gum line.
Our goal when extracting teeth is to make the process as painless as possible and we will do everything we can to make you comfortable.
To book a tooth extraction consultation, get in touch by phone, email, or using the contact form below.
Root Canal Treatments
When the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected, you need to have a root canal treatment in order to save the tooth.
If you are experiencing pain when biting, eating hot or cold food, or have a loose tooth, you may have an infection in the pulp of your tooth.
This could be caused by general tooth decay, a loose filling, or an injury. Whatever caused it, you need to fix the problem as soon as possible.
Despite what you may have heard, a root canal treatment is relatively painless and is certainly less painful than removing the tooth, which is inevitable if left untreated.
The treatment involves drilling a hole in the crown of your tooth, removing the infected pulp from the root canal(s), filling it, and sealing with a filling or crown.
Root canal treatments are usually carried out using a local anesthetic, although we also offer sedation facilities for nervous patients.
If you would like a root canal consultation, you can call us, email us, or use the contact form below.
Full and Partial Dentures
Not only do missing teeth leave you feeling self-conscious about your smile, they can also cause problems with eating and your speech.
Restoring a perfect smile can be done in many ways including bridges and veneers, but a more affordable solution is full or partial dentures.
Full dentures are used when you want to replace a full arch of teeth, whereas partial dentures are used to fill a gap of one or more teeth.
Full dentures are designed to fit snugly over your gums and partial dentures are usually fixed to surrounding teeth using metal clips and are easily removed if required.
Dentures are generally made from acrylic, nylon, or metal.
If you’re not sure whether a bridge, veneers, or dentures are best for you, we’d recommend coming in for a consultation. You can book yours by phone, email, or by using the contact form below.
